These web pages contain tables of all the Commands and System interfaces defined in UNIX 98, complete with an indication of their availability in UNIX 95, the ISO POSIX-1 standard, the ISO POSIX-2 standard, the ISO C standard, SVID3 and 4.3BSD.

These are available as a single file in PDF or postscript. ( PDF viewers for 18 platforms are available from here ).

These tables are for the Single UNIX Specication Version 2 and UNIX 98, refer here for the tables for the Single UNIX Specification Version 3.

These tables are intended as a quick reference guide for programmers migrating or developing applications for UNIX 98. Products that brand to the UNIX 98 profile may not provide all of the interfaces listed, depending on which feature groups are supported.

The System Interfaces are split into several tables and organized alphabetically:

Conventions for System Interface Tables

The following conventions are used for the System Interface tables in columns 2 through 7:

m
Indicates that the interface is defined as mandatory.

f
Indicates that the interface is part of a feature group;

r
In the ISO POSIX-1 standard , this indicates that the interface is part of the POSIX Realtime Extension.

t
In the ISO POSIX-1 standard , this indicates that the interface is part of the POSIX Threads Extension.

In the ISO C standard , this indicates that the interface is part of the ISO/IEC 9899:1990/Amendment 1:1995 (E).

.
Indicates that the interface is not specified.
